The commission was to renovate a Victorian attic into a bath and dressing suite. The existing attic had oddly shaped rooms and very complex roof angles that made the space feel tight.
To expose the full space of the attic, the entire interior framing was removed. The new bright and open suite does not have any standard walls. Instead translucent glass panels were used to shield the bath and dressing area.
A simple color palette - white Venetian plaster covering the walls and ceiling, an ebony-stained oak floor, and translucent glass, create a dramatic effect of light and shadow, which is punctuated by fiber optic lighting in the floor that literally makes the panels glow at night. These panels and their structure were fabricated by the Lundberg Design Shop, as were the custom stainless steel clothing rods/shelving in the dressing area, and the sliding doors to the bedroom.
